watercolours

I worked in watercolours from about 1978 to 1989. Sometimes I wonder if they are still hanging on somebody’s wall, somewhere, but there was the lack of a good camera and these images are all that I have left of them.

Artist statement:

Our childhood experiences, emotions, and reasonings are the foundations on which we build our personality. That this is so, is incredibly remarkable because so much of our childhood is lost in illusion, lost in half-remembered scents and sounds, recalled in scattered bits and pieces, without a date in time. We recollect them through various mediums — emotions, colours, flavours, sometimes songs — and the power they wield over our lives is deceptive. We shrug them off as childhood memories, and yet, they’re the guiding stars by which we steer our life.

In my art work at that time I played, not with specific memories of my childhood but with the visceral ideas and interrelationships that formed, many years ago, in my childmind.
