The Writers’ Nook is a place where we, as a group, can provide a safe and positive environment in which to encourage one another and hone our own writing skills.
Second Person POV
Second-person point of view is a narrative style where the narrator speaks to the reader using the words you or your, and places you (the reader) inside the story and there may be times when you want will want to do that. (Oh! Will you look at that! I’m doing it right now — I’m speaking directly to you, the reader!)
Please bring a notebook and pen or pencil with you to the meeting, and if you can, bring a printed copy of the Handout to read and discuss at the meeting. Contact me if you need a password.
The Challenge
The Challenge between now and the next meeting on June 9th is to write THE SAME STORY that you wrote from the last challenge. Take note of these objectives.
— the story must talk about the same action and conflict,
— feel free to change the dynamics of the story by changing which character is the protagonist, or perhaps the protagonist is the “you” character? maybe the protagonist is the cat? and
— think about, who is the narrator going to be? Is it you the storyteller, or will it be yet another character who is … ?
Note of interest: once again, depending on what you do with this story, this will probably change the emotional distance to focus it onto a different character(s) than last time because you will be creating different psychic distances than last time. The story will remain the same but the emotional distances that the reader feels will change.
