Who is narrating?
Third Person POV
Point of view is the “eye” or narrative voice through which you tell a story. The majority of all fiction books are written in the third person. This is what we are most used to reading, and writing in. You can use this approach in a number of different ways, and each gives your story a slightly different feel and tone. Let’s take a deeper look at this narrative perspective and how you can use the right one for your story.
Please bring a notebook and pen or pencil with you to the meeting, and if you can, bring a printed copy of the Handout to read and discuss at the meeting. Contact me if you need a password.
The Challenge
The Challenge between now and the next meeting on May 12th is to write a story from the third person point of view. Choose any of the three third person perspectives.
— the story MUST contain some action and/or tension, and
— it MUST have a least three, or more than three, characters in it.
Bring your story to the next meeting and if time is available, be prepared to read it.
Point of interest: Do not skip doing this exercise. You will be challenged to experiment with this same story in future Challenges.
