{"id":89,"date":"2026-05-22T21:55:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-22T21:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thethirdhouse.ca\/TheNook\/?p=89"},"modified":"2026-09-16T17:42:24","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T17:42:24","slug":"may-26-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thethirdhouse.ca\/TheNook\/index.php\/2026\/05\/22\/may-26-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"May 26, 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The Writers\u2019 Nook is a place where we, as a group, can provide a safe and positive environment in which to encourage one another and hone our own writing skills.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Second Person POV<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Second-person point of view is a narrative style where the narrator speaks to the reader using the words <strong><em>you <\/em><\/strong>or <strong><em>your<\/em><\/strong>, and places you (the reader) inside the story and there may be times when you want will want to do that.<em> (Oh! Will you look at that! I\u2019m doing it right now \u2014 I\u2019m speaking directly to you, the reader!)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please bring a notebook and pen or pencil with you to the meeting, and if you can, bring a printed copy of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thethirdhouse.ca\/TheNook\/content\/handouts\/2026\/2026-05-12.pdf\">Handout<\/a>&nbsp;to read and discuss at the meeting.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thethirdhouse.ca\/contact\/joyce.php\">Contact me<\/a>&nbsp;if you need a password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Challenge<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Challenge between now and the next meeting on June 9th is to write THE SAME STORY that you wrote from the last challenge. Take note of these objectives.<br>\u2014 the story must talk about the same action and conflict,<br>\u2014 feel free to change the dynamics of the story by changing which character is the protagonist, or perhaps the protagonist is the \u201cyou\u201d character? maybe the protagonist is the cat? and<br>\u2014 think about, who is the narrator going to be? Is it you the storyteller, or will it be yet another character who is &#8230; ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Note of interest:<\/strong> once again, depending on what you do with this story, this will probably change the emotional distance to focus it onto a different character(s) than last time because you will be creating different psychic distances than last time.
