{"id":74,"date":"2026-04-18T21:24:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-18T21:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thethirdhouse.ca\/TheNook\/?p=74"},"modified":"2026-09-16T17:39:40","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T17:39:40","slug":"april-28-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thethirdhouse.ca\/TheNook\/index.php\/2026\/04\/18\/april-28-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"April 22, 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The Writers\u2019 Nook is a place where we, as a group, can provide a safe and positive environment in which to encourage one another and hone our own writing skills.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Who is narrating?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Third Person POV<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Point of view is the \u201ceye\u201d or narrative voice through which you tell a story.&nbsp;The majority of all fiction books are written in the <strong>third person<\/strong>. This is what we are most used to reading, and writing in. You can use this approach in a number of different ways, and each gives your story a slightly different feel and tone. Let\u2019s take a deeper look at this narrative perspective and how you can use the right one for your story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please bring a notebook and pen or pencil with you to the meeting, and if you can, bring a printed copy of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thethirdhouse.ca\/TheNook\/content\/handouts\/2026\/2026-04-28.pdf\">Handout<\/a> to read and discuss at the meeting. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thethirdhouse.ca\/contact\/joyce.php\">Contact me<\/a> if you need a password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Challenge<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Challenge between now and the next meeting on May 12th is to write a story from the third person point of view. Choose any of the three third person perspectives.<br>\u2014 the story MUST contain some action and\/or tension, and<br>\u2014 it MUST have a least three, or more than three, characters in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bring your story to the next meeting and if time is available, be prepared to read it.<br><strong>Point of interest:<\/strong> Do not skip doing this exercise.
